ROCKWELL — Eleanor Grace Johannsen, 97, of Rockwell, formerly of Mason City, died Saturday (Dec. 17, 2005) at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home in Rockwell.

A family memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Eleanor Grace Blumenstiel was born on Nov. 25, 1908, in Mason City, the daughter of Carl W. and Adeline (Abendroth) Blumenstiel. She attended school in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School in 1927.

Eleanor was united in marriage to Karl Peter Johannsen on June 3, 1934, in Mason City. She was an active member of First Christian Church in Mason City.

Eleanor was known for her excellent sewing skills, creating clothing, quilts, curtains, braided rugs and many other home furnishing for her family. She was also a very good cook, often sharing her creations with friends and neighbors. Most of all, Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Carol Bishop and husband, Wally, of Palisade, Minn., Richard Johannsen and wife, Lori, of Sterling, Ill., Marlene Rice and husband, Harlan, of Rockwell; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Karl; and four sisters: Arlene Harris, Margaret Brown, Laura Jean Rose and Charlotte Leaman.
