Myron A. (Snooks) Haugen, 72, of 206 Wesley Dr., Clear Lake, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

The family suggests memorials in memory of Myron be in care of Pat Haugen, 206 Wesley Dr., Clear Lake, Iowa 50428.

It was Myron’s wish to be cremated.

A gathering of friends and family will be from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Molly McGowan Park, Clear Lake. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.

Myron was born Jan. 30, 1944 on the family farm in rural Fertile, Iowa the son of Wallace and Idelle (Garlock) Haugen. He attended Clear Lake High School. Following high school, he worked with his father digging wells. He later did construction, worked at Easters as produce manager and then went on to work for Secory Plumbing for over 30 years until he retired.

Myron married Patricia Dyre on Oct. 23, 1987 in Clear Lake.

He enjoyed fishing, his dogs, turtle hunting, making homemade pizza, playing cards and especially taking his grandchildren to garage and rummage sales. He was known as joke teller. He was a member of Clear Lake Volunteer Fire Dept.

Myron is survived by his wife, Pat Haugen, Clear Lake; two children, Richard (Lori) Dyre, Muscatine, Iowa and Michelle (Erik) Purdy, Muscatine; five grandchildren, Dustin Olinger, Mason City, Tauni Dyre, Mason City, Michael Miller, Muscatine, Maleah Tucker, Muscatine, and Peyton Tucker, Muscatine; three great-grandchildren, Damion, Lestat and Rylee; niece and nephew, Mike and Alice; and several other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother; and three other brothers, DuWayne, Keith and Dale Haugen; and one sister, Deloris Haugen.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
