November 15, 1995MASON CITY -- Harold H. Hartwig, 74, of 907 16th St. N.E., died Monday (Nov. 13, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Norman E. Betke officiating and the Rev. Frederick J. Wood of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mason City, officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.
Visitation will begin 5 p.m. Thursday at the Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a 7 p.m. prayer service. There will be further visitation one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Harold H. Hartwig was born Aug. 6, 1921, in St. Ansgar, son of Herman E. and Louise (Ruebe) Hartwig.
He married Verna Plath on Aug. 23, 1942, in St. Ansgar.
Harold grew up in St. Ansgar and farmed in the St. Ansgar area until 1966, when he and his family moved to Mason City. He then worked for Builders Supply until retiring.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and camping with his family. He was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, and a member of Bethlehem Luthran Church, Mason City.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Hartwig of Mason City; one daughter, Marjory Daniels and her husband, Delmer of Mason City; three sons, Gary Hartwig and his wife, Jean, of Northwood, David Hartwig and his wife, Sue of Northwood, and Duane Hartwig and his wife, Jeanne of Waverly; seven grandchildren, Stacy and Wendy Daniels, both of Mason City, Tammy Charlson, of Kensett, Scott Hartwig of Pesthigo, Wis., Todd Hartwig of Mondovi, Wis., and Tim and Angela Hartwig, both of Northwood; and nine greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Ruth Claus.
