September 11, 1995MASON CITY -- A. Maxine Hanes, 63, of 428 27th St. S.W., died Thursday (Sept. 7, 1995) at the IOOF Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 2502 S. Jefferson Ave., with the Rev. DuWayne Dalen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., where a Rebekah service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Further visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church Monday.
Maxine was born Aug. 27, 1932, at St. James, Mo., a daughter of Charles R. Piper and Vivian L. Piper (nee) Nutting. She married Johnnie E. Hanes on April 2, 1951, at Salem, Ark.
She attend school at St. James, Mo., graduating from St. James High School.
Maxine was a bookkeeper at Central States Auto Auction for 22 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Rebekah Lodge, #106, and VFW Auxillary, all of Mason City.
Survivors include her husband, Johnnie E. Hanes of Mason City; one son, Johnnie R. Hanes of Estes Park, Colo.; one sister, Pearl McWhorter of Mason City; one brother, Jack Piper and his wife, Grace of Mason City; and a sister-in-law, Vivian Piper of Mason City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Tip Piper.
