Robert Watson Hamilton November 2, 1923 - February 27, 2018

MASON CITY - Robert Watson Hamilton, 94, of Mason City, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM Monday, March 19, 2018, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 100 1st St NE, with Pastor Chuck Kelsey officiating. Inurnment will take place in the First Congregational United Church of Christ Columbarium. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Robert Watson Hamilton was born November 2, 1923 at Montevideo, Minnesota to Alice May Daman and Harry Lee Hamilton. “Bob” Hamilton was the youngest of five children. Robert Hamilton married Ardyth Jane Yokie, June 29, 1950. They raised three children, Sarah Ann, Scott Harry and Paul Robert Hamilton.

Robert and Ardyth Hamilton moved to Mason City in 1951. They were faithful members of the First Congregational Church. Robert Hamilton served as treasurer. He sang in the church choir and presented numerous vocal solos for worship. Robert worked as a wholesale lumber distributor from his home office.

Robert was President of the Mason City Country Club in 1968. He won the Mason City Amateur Club Golf Championship in 1969. Robert, Ardyth and Paul moved to La Quinta, California in 1974. Robert lived there until Ardyth Hamilton died in 2003. Bob moved back to Mason City in 2005 and lived at the Willows Retirement Village for several years.

Robert Hamilton is survived by one son Paul R. Hamilton, and his wife, Wilma, two grandsons, Dennis and Matthew Hepperly and three great-grandchildren, Braydon, Kenedy and Maverick Hepperly.

Robert Hamilton is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers and sisters, his wife Ardyth, his daughter Sarah Hepperly and son Scott Hamilton, and one grandson Kevin Hepperly.
