Robert Arndt, 74, of Rockwell died Friday, May 16, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. with a one-hour prior visitation on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 502 2nd St. South, Rockwell, Iowa, with the Reverend Rhea Evanson officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Swaledale.

A visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Fullerton Funeral Home in Rockwell. Those planning an expression of sympathy may consider memorials to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa Cancer Services, 1000 4th St. S.W., Mason City, IA 50401.

Robert was born on May 29, 1939, in Mason City to Velder and Doris Arndt. He grew up the oldest of five children on a dairy farm outside of Mason City. He attended Mason City school.

On February 12, 1958, he was united in marriage to Janet Wilson. They had three children. Robert worked at Armour for over 40 years before retiring in 2004. His hobbies included: hunting, fishing, cooking meals to share with family and friends.

He loved spending time with the grandkids and meeting new people. Robert enjoyed going to the Cedar Valley Produce Auction with his best friend Ann Staley to buy vegetables and flowers. He liked going to auctions, grocery shopping and driving around the mile looking for deer and other wildlife. Robert was a bargain hunter and could find just about anything. His sense of humor and kind heart will be remembered by his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Craig (Sheryl) Arndt of Mason City, Michael (Kimberly) Arndt of Rockwell, and Julie (Keith) Noyes of Kansas; brother, David (Jennifer) Arndt of Oklahoma; sisters, Gloria (Jim) Paulsen of Mason City and Tammie (Jeff) Cowell of Mason City; grandchildren, Travis Arndt, Tyla Noyes (friend Aaron), Christopher Kirschbaum, Dylan Arndt, Jonathan Noyes, Courtney (Brad) Mayer, Cole (Emily) Arndt, and Amber (Doug) Colby; great-grandchildren, Rylee Noyes, Koy Colby, Gage Arndt, Ivy Rose Colby, Bradley Arndt, Alexa Mayer, Bentley Arndt, and Baby Mayer; many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; parents, Velder and Doris Arndt; sister Cheryl Alden; in-laws, George and Dorothy Wilson and sister-in-law Barb.
