Leo H. Peters, 84, of 515 2nd St. S, Rockwell, Iowa, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, 502 2nd St. S., Rockwell, Pastor Ronald Bolinger officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in rural Swaledale, Iowa.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fullerton Funeral Home, 120 3rd St. S. in Rockwell, and will continue one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Leo was born in Pleasant Valley Township, Feb 24, 1919, the youngest child to Harm and Mary Peters. He was nicknamed Buddy Boy by his mother and many still know him as Bud.

In 1941 he married Edna Elizabeth Markwardt in Bethany, Mo. He was baptized immediately after birth at home and was confirmed at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Thornton, Iowa. Leo was an active member of St Peter Lutheran church. He served two terms as councilman and was a Christian inspiration to many. He had a life long interest in farming. He will be remembered as a loving husband, caring father and wonderful grandfather. He had many close nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edna Peters; a daughter, Lauralye Peters, Centennial, Colo.; a son, Darwin, and wife, Beverly, Rockwell; a daughter, Carolyn AbuJobarah and husband, Saleem, Rockwell; a sister, Katherine Amundson, Northwood; a sister-in-law, Reva Peters, Swaledale; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and special friends, Bob and Nancy Corporan, Dougherty, Iowa.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Louie and sister, Matilda.
