Sarah Elizabeth Baker was born on December 8, 1927, in Mason City, the daughter of Charles and Iona (Thompson) Baker. She attended and graduated from Rock Falls High School among the class of 1946.

On December 13, 1947, she was united in marriage to John O'Donnell in Mason City; together they would be blessed with seven children.

Sarah's life revolved around her family. She cherished the times spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In earlier years she loved taking family vacations and motorcycle trips with her husband, and she never missed a Baker family reunion.

More recently Sarah found joy in attending school activities and sporting events for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also kept herself busy sewing, crocheting, knitting, and quilting so that every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild had a special keepsake from their mom and grandma.

Sarah spent countless hours volunteering at the Mason City Senior Center, Holy Family Catholic Church, and Mercy Medical Center; all of which serve as a testament to her selflessness and commitment to those in need around her. She never thought of herself, but always for the needs of others.

She was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the St. Gregory Circle, Catholic Daughters of America, and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

Those grateful in sharing in her life are her children, Joan (David) Sabolek, Clear Lake, John (Diana) O'Donnell, Jr., Clear Lake, Robert (Stephanie) O'Donnell, Mason City, Allen (Annette) O'Donnell, Kasson, Minn., K.
