Jeanette Nuehring January 7, 1927 - July 23, 2017

Jeanette Nuehring, 90, of Rockwell, IA died Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Rockwell Community Nursing Home.

A visitation will be held 6-8 pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the United Methodist Church, 303 Monroe St, Rockwell, IA. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the church with Pastor Travis Stevick officiating.

Interment will follow at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City, IA.

Jeanette was born on January 7, 1927 in Ackley, IA to Hilko and Lena Boelkes. On March 3, 1956 she was united in marriage to Elmer William Nuehring at the United Methodist Church in Rockwell.

Jeanette was a dedicated housewife who loved to cook; especially known for her baked goodies. She enjoyed gardening and working on her flower beds. Jeanette was artistic and did a lot of crafts and crocheting Afghans for her children and their families. Above all else, she absolutely adored her grandchildren.

In her later years after retirement, Jeanette and Elmer moved to Mason City. The couple enjoyed numerous activities associated with the winter Texan's lifestyle. They traveled to South Texas for 23 years and always enjoyed their time there; she loved playing shuffle board and darts with her friends.

Those thankful for having shared in Jeanette's life include her son, Larry (Carolyn) Nuehring of Rockwell; daughters, Karen (Lloyd Ivy) Swenson and Katheryn Nuehring both of Garland, TX; sisters, Helen Brandt of Hampton, IA and Edna (George) Wright of Hampton; sister-in-law, Carrie Boelkes of Missouri; grandchildren: Bill (Janelle), Bob (Michelle), Randy (Sara), Jeremy (Tammy), Jason (Janelle) and Nickie Franklin; 12 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren and one to arrive soon.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer in 2000; parents, Hilko and Leno Boelkes; daughter, Kristine; brothers: Ernie, Walter, Joe and Herman and sisters, JoAnn Martin and Irene Boelkes.
