Leigh Powers June 14, 1934 - September 30, 2017
Leigh Powers, 83, of Mason City, passed away Saturday (September 30, 2017) at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City after a yearlong battle with cancer.

A mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00am Thursday (October 5, 2017) at Epiphany Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 5th Street SE, Mason City with Reverend Austin Wilker officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday (October 4, 2017) from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., a scriptural wake service will begin at 7:00p.m. Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, Family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd St SE, Mason City or Good Shepherd Health Center, 302 2nd St NE, Mason City in Leigh's name.

Leigh was born June 14, 1934, the son of Stewart and Florence (Cherry) Powers in Mason City. Leigh grew up and attended St. Joseph School in Mason City, graduated from St. Joseph High School. He worked as a Buyer/Analyst for Collins Rockwell in Cedar Rapids, IA and at Crystal Tips' Ice Products in Spirit Lake, IA, retiring from the former.

Leigh is survived by his children, Fr. Dan Gehler of Des Moines, Chris Gehler of Spencer, Kim Beyner of Gilbert, AZ, and Joe Powers of Nashville, TN; three grandchildren, Brooke Gehler of Spencer, Jacob Beyner of Gilbert, AZ, and Joshua Beyner of Gilbert, AZ; two great-grandchildren, Taitem and Lexie Ginger of Spencer; and his sister, Juanita (Don) Halverson of Rock Falls, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harry Reynolds, and his sister, Betty Jo Lichman.
