Edith G. Whitney, 93, of Mason City, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at Good Shepherd Health Center.

A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, with Pastor Kent Mechler officiating.

The family suggests memorial contributions to be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City.

Edith was born June 18, 1923, in Mason City, Iowa, to Gus and Hariett (Haines) Schaffer. She attended Mason City High School. After attending high school, she was united in marriage to Joseph Gregory and to this union had three children. In 1951 she married Robert G. Whitney, who passed in 1999.

Edith is survived by her children, Sandra Thompson, of Iowa Falls, Richard (Sharon) Whitney, of Mason City; and several grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Whitney; and daughter, Judy Whitney.
