Arthur L. Harris, 86, of Mason City, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at Muse-Norris Hospice, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N. Delaware, Mason City, with Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating.

Burial will in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. Military honors will be conducted by Mason City Veterans.

The family will greet friends at a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. N.E., Mason City, and one hour prior to services at the church Friday.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa or Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Arthur L. Harris was born Sept. 27, 1930, at Rock Falls, Iowa, a son of John T. and Louella (Brown) Harris.

Arthur was united in marriage to Betty Lou Ashlock on Oct. 21, 1951, in Mason City.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Alaska. In addition to being a farmer all his life, Art worked at the sugar beet plant and at Jacob E. Decker & Sons for over 30 years, retiring in 1984.

He enjoyed bowling, gardening, woodworking, hunting, and volunteering at the Mason City Community Kitchen.

He was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. He served as President of the Mason City Bowling Association, and was a member of the Mason City Bowling Hall of Fame.

Art is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Harris, Mason City; daughters, Sandra (John) Cookman, Osage, Kathleen (Larry) Zilge, Mason City; a son, Thomas (Karla) Harris, Spirit Lake; grandchildren, Brock (Heather) Cookman, Chase (Molly) Cookman, Drew (Ashlee) Cookman, Kristopher (Sara) Zilge, Kristina (John) Rudolph, Daniel (Charlotte) Harris and Dustin Harris; great-grandchildren, Cynthia, Elaina, Elliott, Saleh, Jack, Peyton, Hayden, Brody and two on the way; sisters Jean Davis, Altoona, Dorothy Nolte, Mason City, Lillian (Marvin) Baker, Los Angeles, CA; sister-in-law, Bev Harris, Mason City; many nieces and nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, George and Mary Ashlock; brother, Merle Harris; sister, Mildred Johnson; brothers-in-law, Robert Johnson, Gus Nolte, Robert Davis; and a great-granddaughter, Norah Rudolph.
