Clem Herman, 90, of Mason City, died Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Mason City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Epiphany Parish Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Neil Manternach officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, with military honors conducted by the Mason City VA.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 5:30 p.m.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Clem Herman Memorial Fund.

Clem was born on Oct. 29, 1925, the son of Nick and Rose (Shell) Herman in Garden City, KS. He attended schools in Kansas and Epiphany Parish Holy Family Catholic School in Mason City.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Shirley” Lindsay on Jan. 22, 1947, for 69 years, and to this union four children were born.

He was employed for 42 years at Lehigh as a heavy machine operator.

Clem was a member of Epiphany Parish-Holy Family Catholic Church, Boilermaker Union, United Cement Workers Union, VFW and DAV. He was a past commander at the VFW and member of Ducks Unlimited. Clem was a volunteer for the Honor Flight of Winnebago.

He enjoyed being outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing.

He was proud to serve in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War.

Clem is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Shirley” Herman, of Mason City, IA; four children; Richard (Vicki) Herman, of Centerville, IA, Roger (Deb True) Herman, of Mason City, IA, Michael (Camile) Herman, of Mason City, IA, and Christopher Herman, of Glenwood, IA; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Laverne (Paul) Beal, of Waterloo, IA.

Clem is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Joe, John, Robert and Edward Herman; sister, Lorraine Hennessey.
