Jackson “Jack” D. White, 89, of Mason City, died Friday, July 1, 2016, at Rockwell Community Nursing Home in Rockwell.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania Ave. in Mason City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City with military honors provided by the Mason City Veterans.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel in Mason City.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the V.F.W. Post 733 in Mason City.

Jack was born January 12, 1927, the son of Jackson H. and Rose (Decker) White in Mason City. He was united in marriage to Lois M. Mason on December 10, 1955, in Mason City. To this union three children were born.

Jack grew up in Mason City before moving to Munster, IN, with his family. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving during World War II and receiving three Bronze Stars. He was a railroad engineer, retiring after 37 years with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in 1986.

Jack was a member of the Lunker Club, Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge in Mason City. He loved fishing trips to Canada, watching the Chicago Cubs and boxing.

Jack is survived by two daughters, Diane “Dee” Pollock of Charlotte, NC, and Debbie (Jeff) Gill of Spring, TX; a son, John (Mary) White of Mason City; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Wise of Indianapolis, Kristin (Shane) Dunn of Hendersonville, NC, Michael Pollock of Raleigh, NC, Dan Gill of Spring, TX, Jonathan Gill of Spring, TX, Shelby (Craig) Halverson of Mason City and Abra (Brandon) Kammrad of Garner; four great-grandchildren, Olive, Zander, Easton and a newborn girl; a brother, Chuck White of Mason City; a sister, Darlene Graham of St. Louis, MO; an aunt, Helen Reardon of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; and a sister, Betty Warner.
