MASON CITY — Myrna L. Bills, 96, of Mason City, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., with the Rev. Sean McRoberts officiating. Interment will be at the Rockwell Cemetery in Rockwell.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.

Myrna was born March 27, 1916, in rural Vandalia, Ill., (Bear Creek Township — Fayette County), the daughter of David and Lillie (Fansler) Blankenship. At age 5, her family moved to Williams, Iowa and eventually Rockwell, Iowa (where she lived for many years). She attended rural schools. In 1979, Myrna moved to Mason City. She married Jessie Bills on Jan. 24, 1935 — and later divorced. Myrna worked as a housekeeper at Mercy Hospital from 1969 until she retired in 1981. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church — where she belonged to church circle. Myrna enjoyed spending time with her family — especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, traveling, and volunteering at the Good Shepherd Health Center.

Myrna is survived by her children: Ernest Bills and wife Jean of Clear Lake, Larry Bills and wife Linda of Maxwell, Linda Folkerds and husband Roger of Grinnell, Gary Bills and wife Deb of Aredale, and Jim Bills and wife Debbie of Rockwell; daughter-in-law: Helen Bills of Mason City; 20 grandchildren: Ed Smith and wife Jody, Kathy Anderson and husband Larry, Beth Gordon, Diane Aldrich, Kevin Bills and wife Barb, Mark Bills and wife Christy, Darin Bills and wife Kate, Ray Bills, Chris Bills and Steve Hrubes, Charles Bills, Heather Allen and husband Dan, Brandon Bills, Julie Bates and husband Rick, Mollie Warburton, Dawn Rupp and husband Rusty, Adam Bills and wife Anjanette, Ben Bills, Abby Alexander and husband Jason, Jill Bills and husband Dax Kuhfuss, and Andy Bills and wife Katie; and 24 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous great-great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Elaine Evans and husband Harold; her siblings: Velma Behrens and husband Clifford, Bernice Burkett and husband Charles, Mae Ragsdale and husband Lawrence, Leslie Blankenship and wife Geraldine, Erma Bode and husband Dick and Jean Pedersen and husband Ervin; a great granddaughter, Toni Hanson.
