September 04, 2014MASON CITY -- Myron Charles Beinke, 92, of Mason City, passed away on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City.
A visitation, with viewing, will be held one hour prior to services, from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Burial will follow the services at Manly Cemetery in Manly, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Myron Charles Beinke Memorial Fund.
Myron was born June 27, 1922 in Manly, Iowa, the son of Henry and Mable (Soblick) Beinke. He graduated from Manly High School and was projectionist at the Lido Theater during his high school years and after. Myron enlisted in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and served his country in the South Pacific Theater of operations. After his honorable discharge from service, Myron moved to Mason City where he worked at several places in the city, including the Iowa Department of Transportation where he retired from in 1987.
He married Adeline Anderson in St. Louis, Missouri. To that union three children were born, Jan, Peg and Barb. They later divorced. He married Dorothy Ristau at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in 1974.
Myron enjoyed traveling, taking pictures, his computer and amateur radio along with watching sports. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City, a member of the Moose Lodge and lifetime member of the American Legion and the Veteran of Foreign Wars. Myron was a member of the Mason City Senior Activity Center and served on the board of directors for several years.
Myron will be missed by his daughters, Peggy Bingham and her husband Jim of Aurora, Colorado; Barbara Stricker and her husband Nick of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and stepchildren, Arlyn Ristau and his wife, Karen of Denver, Iowa, Dennis and his wife Cheryl Ristau of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Nancy and her husband Greg Scott of Prescott, Arizona, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, along with his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy, one daughter, Janice Carl of Marinette, Wisconsin, and one stepdaughter, Barbara Treloar of Wichita, Kansas
