Florence Alice (Sage) Sutton, 78, died peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Iowa Odd Fellows Home in Mason City.

Per Florence’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 9, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday. A private inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City at a later date.

Should friends desire, memorials may be left to the Florence Sutton Memorial Fund in care of her family.

Florence was born June 15, 1934, in Mason City, the daughter of Gladys (Richey) and Clayton Sage. A sweet and gentle person, Florence married Richard (Dick) Sutton on Sept. 15, 1951, and together they had seven children, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She lived her life dedicated to her family and enjoyed serving as a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, a member of the Lincoln School PTA and was involved in church activities. Florence obtained her G.E.D. in 1999, a source of great pride for her and her family.

Florence is survived by six children: Steven (Heather) Sutton, Shoreview, Minn.; John (Sun Cha) Sutton, Wheat Ridge, Colo.; Richard (Lory) Sutton, Edina, Minn.; James (Wendy) Sutton, St. Paul, Minn.; Sharon Johnson, Mason City; and Karen (Lowell) White, Gordon, Neb.; 13 grandchildren: Sean Sutton, Los Angeles, Calif.; Aaron Sutton, Shoreview, Minn.; John Jr. and Jason Sutton, Wheat Ridge, Colo.; Paul (Erica) Sutton, St. Louis Park, Minn.; Kathryn Sutton, Minneapolis, Minn.; Thomas (Julia) Niemi Sutton, Pitea, Sweden; Staff Sergeant Jacob (Sunny) Sutton, Savannah, Ga.; Neal; Mitchell and Ellen Sutton, St. Paul, Minn.; and Austin and Vanessa Johnson of Mason City; two great-grandchildren: Sadie and Theodore Sutton, Wheat Ridge, Colo.; four siblings: Milton (Barbara) Sage, Russelville, Ala.; John (Diane) Sage, Mason City; Lisbeth Helfritz, Surprise, Ariz.; Richard (Aurelia) Sage, Modesto, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and daughter, Kathryn.
