Donna Marie Schultz, 85, of Mason City, IA, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Hospital-St Marys Campus, in Rochester, MN.

A celebration of life for Donna and Gerald will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., with Pastor Jeni Bohls officiating.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com.

Donna was born May 10, 1931, in Green Bay, WI, the daughter of William and Edna (Kelly) Hannon. On Dec. 26, 1953, Donna was united in marriage to Gerald "Jerry" Schultz at Trinity Lutheran Church, Green Bay, WI. To this union two children were born.

Donna graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1949 and from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in June 1953 with a degree in teaching. She taught school in Waupun and Waupaca, WI, and in Clear Lake, IA. She also worked at New Hope Village in Carroll, IA, until her retirement.

Donna was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed attending many games with Jerry at Lambeau Field. She loved the outdoors and activities that included gardening, bird watching, swimming, and spending time at her parents' cottage in Northern Wisconsin. She also enjoyed watching and participating in curling. Donna was a lifelong learner and teacher who loved children. She was very active in church over the years and taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. Donna enjoyed reading for relaxation, shopping, and visits with her family and friends. She treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Those thankful for having shared in Donna's life include her children, Jeffrey (Lisa) Schultz of Rockwell, IA; daughter, Mary Ellen (Mitchell) Smith of Mason City, IA; sister-in-law, Barbara Strade of Madison, WI; four grandchildren, Blake Schultz of Mason City, IA, Brock Schultz of Marshall, MN, Mikayla (Dalton) Olson of West Des Moines, IA, Brett Smith of Mason City, IA; one niece, Julene (Bret Harris) Strade; one nephew, Keith Strade.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gerald on Feb. 22, 2017, and a brother-in-law Earl Strade.
