Elizabeth A. Schindele, 88, of Mason City, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Good Shepherd Heath Center in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Oct. 1, 2014, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Sid Bohls officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the funeral chapel.

Elizabeth was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Burchinal, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Elma Baldwin. She graduated from Swaledale High School in 1943. Following high school she held several jobs including Tent and Awning and food service, but her true love was working and helping her dad and brother on the family farm.

She was blessed with four children, Lynda, La Donna, Deb and Chuck. After her children were grown, she worked at Mercy Medical Center as a housekeeper until she retired in 1990. Following her retirement, Elizabeth helped with her grandchildren and could always be found cooking, baking or sewing clothes. She also enjoyed traveling to the local casinos with her sister, brother and sister-in-law. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mason City.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Lynda Mae (Al) Johnson of Pine City, Minnesota, and Deb (Larry) Stockberger of Mason City; her son-in-law Pete and wife Pat Peterson of Charles City; her sister Anna Mae (Bob) Lugar of Mason City; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Chuck, daughter La Donna Petersen, and four brothers.

The family would like to extend their gratitude for the kind and compassionate care Elizabeth received while living at Good Shepherd Health Center.
