PONCA CITY, OKLAHOMA -- William Fredrick Ashpole, 83, of Ponca City, OK, died Saturday, October 28, 2017, in Ponca City.

Military honors will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue – Mason City, IA. Graveside services will follow at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery with Rev. Steve Schulz, Chaplain – Hospice of North Iowa officiating. William Ashpole was born June 21, 1934 to parents Elston and Madelyn (Tolletson) Ashpole. William was raised in Webster City, Iowa. William met and later married Maxine Moore in Mason City on January 25, 1955. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959. After Serving in the Air Force, he and his family moved to Massachusetts, transferring from there to Fort Myers, Florida and to Minnesota, until he retired from Honeywell (Bull) Corporation in 1995. He and Maxine came back to Mason City to be with family. After the death of Maxine, he and his brother Bud and mother Madelyn moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma where he spent his remaining years.

Bill enjoyed fishing with his brother, spending many happy summers in and around the area.

William was preceded in death by his parents Elston and Madelyn Ashpole, his loving wife of 50 years, brother Roger Spellmeyer and son William Frederick.

Bill is survived by his children Valerie and Jerry Ashpole, grandson Ronald William Case, granddaughter Tabatha and five great grandchildren and brother Elston (Diane) Ashpole.
