Larry D. Lutcavish, 82, of Manly, died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Ed Bard, chaplain, Hospice of North Iowa, officiating.

A gathering of family and friends was from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Major Erickson Funeral Home.

Inurnment was in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association.

Lawrence Dean Lutcavish was born March 11, 1932, in Mason City, the son of Albert T. and Alice Marie (Haukness) Luctavish. He attended school in Mason City. In 1952, Larry enlisted and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1954.

On June 2, 1952, (two days before his active military duty), Larry married Mary Moorehead in Mason City, and to this union three children were born: Julie, Jeff and Jill. The couple later divorced.

As a young man, he spent a few years in California before returning to Mason City, where he worked at Armour Foods for over 30 years. Following his retirement in 1983, Larry joined the staff at Sedars Motor Co.

Larry enjoyed camping, fishing, target shooting, hunting, playing cards, roller skating (in his younger years), going for walks and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watch and clock repair. This was a hobby he picked up from his uncle while living in California. Larry was a member of the Moose Lodge, the VFW, Amvets and the Elks Lodge.

Larry is survived by his special friend of 27 years: Wilma Shafer of Mason City; his children: Julie (Tom) Heddens of Charles City; Jeff (Leslie) Lutcavish of Mason City; and Jill (Steve Wendel) Lutcavish of Mason City; his grandchildren: Nikole (Jon) Benson and their four children, Chad Lutcavish, Dustin Heddens and Brent Heddens; one brother: Allan L. (Arretta) Lutcavish of Minneapolis, Minn., and sister-in-law: Eileen Lutcavish of Sheffield. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Gerald Luctavish; and a brother in infancy.
