Armando Torres Leal, Sr., 79, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015, at First Congregational Church, 205 W. 10th Ave. N., Clear Lake, with Rev. Keith Scott officiating. Inurnment was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Armando Leal, Sr. Memorial Fund.

Armando was born Jan. 17, 1936, the son of Jose Valdez and Lauriana (Torres) Leal Villa, in Sequin, Texas. He married Anna Maria Rodriguez on May 31, 1959 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Armando grew up and attended school in San Antonio. Texas. He was a dairy farmer at Knolle Dairy in Fort Worth, Texas before moving to Iowa and receiving a Welding Diploma from North Iowa Community College in Mason City. He was a welder for Iowa Mold Tooling Company in Garner, and later retired from the United States Postal Service, where he transported mail from Mason City and Waterloo to Chicago. He also worked at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake.

Armando enjoyed being on the water and outdoors, fishing, camping, and hunting. He especially loved and cherished time spent with family while going for car rides. He also enjoyed reading scripture.

Armando is survived by his wife, Anna, of Clear Lake; four children, Armando (Ana) Leal, Jr. of Red Cloud, Neb., Ruth Najar, of Clear Lake, Abram (Angie) Leal of Corpus Christi, and Emma Leal, of Corpus Christi; 10 grandchildren, Corina Schallock, Oralia Hernandez, Stephanie Hernandez, Abram Leal Jr., Adam Leal, Danielle Duran, Adriana Leal, Azariah Leal, Asaph Leal and Nichole Gonzalez; eight great-grandchildren; six siblings, Dan Leal of Houston, Joe Leal, of Corpus Christi, Alice (Freddie) Flores, of Corpus Christi, Wendy Cardova, of San Antonio, Maggie Villa, of Corpus Christi, and Candlearia Garcia of Corpus Christi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul Flores and Adolf Villa; and a grandmother, Roberta Torres.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
