Gerald L. Krukow, 84, of Mason City, died Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Muse Norris Inpatient Unit, Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, 119 S Georgia Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Kathleen Moore and the Rev. Jim Stiles officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be held from 3 until 7 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, Iowa, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Gerald LaVern Krukow was born on Oct. 24, 1932, the son of Lester and Alma (Matthews) Krukow in Hampton, Iowa. He graduated from Rockford High School in 1952. Gerald married Joyce Worley on June 27, 1954, at Rockford Methodist Church. The couple had four daughters, Lou Ann, Victoria, Angela, and Kimberly.

Gerald worked as a farmer until 1984. He worked for Frances Lauer Youth Services as a counselor and a maintenance and handyman for 25 years until his retirement in 2008. He loved to travel, especially choir trips with his wife. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, singing, music, flying airplanes and planting flowers, specifically hydrangeas.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He never met anyone he didn’t like.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Krukow, Mason City; his daughters, Lou Ann (Warren) Mueller, State Center, Victoria Rice, Overland Park, KS, Angela (Jim) Bossard, Mason City, and Kimberly (Alan) Kuuttila, Nevada; his grandchildren, Dustin (Ricki) Tapp, Nicholas (Brittany) Tapp, A.J. Kuuttila, Alex Kuuttila, Derrick (significant other Cassie) Blackley, Crystal (Matt) Ressler, Grant Blackley, and Keegan Rice; 10½ great-grandchildren, sister, Ruth Ann Rick, Mason City, his beloved dog, Jackie, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charles, two nephews Danny Rick and Tom Rick, and his brother-in-law, Everett Rick.
