Lawrence Stelter, 73, Clear Lake, Friday, Aug. 25, at the Muse-Norris Hospice In-Patient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 28, at Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kermit Rosen officiating. Burial was at the St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery, Toeterville, Iowa.

The family requests memorials be made in his name.

Lawrence was born March 15, 1922 on the family farm in Otranto Township, rural Otranto. He was the son of Gustav Stelter and Mary (nee) Schroeder. He was baptized April 9, 1922 at St. Peter Lutheran Church at Toeterville and was confirmed March 24, 1934. Lawrence attended Otranto School and graduated from there in May of 1939.

On April 4, 1943 he was united in marriage to Gala Anna Bork in Austin, Minn. The coupled lived on the family farm until 1967, when they moved to Clear Lake.

Lawrence was a 4-H Club leader for a number of years and also served two terms on the Otranto School Board. Lawrence received his real estate license in May 1968. He began his career in real estate with Ris-Van Realty in Clear Lake in 1968 and later was one of the founders of Triad Realty in 1974. He was the first president of the Clear Lake Board of Realtors in 1980 and remained a member until his retirement in 1992.

He was a member of IOOF Lodge 187 and a past member of the Clear Lake Noon Lions. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Lawrence was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his wife and their families, whom he loved very much. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Gala, Clear Lake; two sons, Dennis and his wife, Marilyn, Clear Lake, and Daryl (Chip) and his wife, Linda, Lake Mills; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Larson and Mrs. Bernice Callahan, both of Austin, Minn.; four grandchildren, John Stelter and his wife Debby, Clear Lake, Dave Stelter and friend, Tammy Schiermeister, Clear Lake, Shawn Stelter, Armstrong, Iowa and Sheila Stelter, Lake Mills; two great-grandchildren, Timothy and Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Organist Karen Harthan accompanied soloist Rev. Jonathan Swenson.

Honorary pallbearers were Roger Campbell, Don Dirks, Tom Nodland, David O'Dowd, Shelby Pierce, and Louie Schuler.

Pallbearers were Roger Ritter, Larry Day, Gary Frerichs, Dean Molinsky, Wayne Oberbroeckling, and Gary Bork
