Roger C. Dunahoo, 80, of Mason City, IA, died Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Kathy Graves of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association.

Memorials may be directed to the Roger Dunahoo memorial fund in care of the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com .

Roger was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Mason City, the son of Kadiz and Elsie (Brix) Dunahoo. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1953. In July of 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in July of 1956. On Dec. 29, 1956, Roger married Janice Buchanan at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Roger worked at Klipto Printing and Office Supply Company for 40 years as a Book Binder. After the business closed he worked for Larson Printing for a short time until retiring in 1997. Roger enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, camping, gardening and remodeling projects. He also enjoyed Wednesday night picnics and Friday night happy hour with the same group of friends for the past 50+ years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the VFW.

Roger is survived by his wife of 59 years: Janice Dunahoo of Mason City, 2 children: Bill Dunahoo and wife Tyrena of Colona, IL, and Sue Hemmen of Mason City; 7 grandchildren: Tara, Kristin, Jaimee, Cody, Courtney, Austin and Jessica, 7 great-grandchildren: Deryck, Audrey, Cole, Brandt, Allison, Aiden and Dallas; and 2 sisters: Donna Schmitt and husband Walt of Mason City and Dorothy Hippen and husband Royce of Mason City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in infancy; 1 niece: Deann Lutcavish; and 1 nephew: Dennis Klunder.
