Jerold D. “Jerry” Erickson, 62, St. Ansgar, Iowa, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at his home in rural St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. at Major Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City, Iowa, with Pastor Tom Healey, Hospice of North Iowa Chaplain officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jerry will be cremated after the service and inurnment will be held at a later date.

Jerry was born in Tyler on July 29, 1946. He grew up in and around Pipestone. As a young adult he joined the army and served for a short time. After his time in the service, he moved to Mason City and worked as a mechanic. Later he started work as a Conductor/Brakeman on the Chicago Northwestern Railroad.

He married Rosalie Ann Sanborn of Mason City, on June 11, 1977. Together they moved to Lake Crystal as part of Jerry’s railroad work, and started a family of their own. They eventually moved to Mason City, and after being injured on the job, Jerry then spent his time enjoying home life and his children.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Erickson; four children and their spouses, James A. Erickson; Mechelle “Shelly” D. Hailey; Keith P. Erickson and Kyle P. Erickson; his mother, Doris Wollmuth (Cornelson), Pipestone; eight siblings, Connie Pompa and special friend Alan Brockberg, Pipestone; Kathie (Joe) Miller, Pipestone; Harold (Barb) Wulf, Ames, Iowa; Chuck (Wanda) Wulf, Mason City; Sharon (Gary) Woitazewski, Slayton; Karen (Harold) Blume, Pipestone and Lori (Brad) Delaney, Pipestone; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Wulf; his grandparents; two aunts; his daughter, Katherine Pearl Erickson; his great-granddaughter, Kathryne Elizabeth Perry; his wife’s parents and two nieces.
