Richard was born on Nov. 17, 1939, in Mason City, the son of Emmon and Hazel (Cooper) Engleman. He lived his entire life in Mason City. Richard had a long career working for the City of Mason City as an arborist for the street department. Richard loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and archery. He also enjoyed working on cars in his garage, and had a great love of vintage vehicles. In his free time, you could usually find him shooting pool at the Sidewinder, where he enjoyed the company of his many, many good friends. Most of all, Richard loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had tremendous pride in his heritage and in his family.
