Richard “Dick” Eugene Becker, 87, Clear Lake, IA, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Oakwood Care Center, Hwy 18 W. Clear Lake, IA.

A Celebration of Life will be held 12:30 PM Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Galilean Lutheran Church, 4454 255th St., Clear Lake, IA with Rev. Scot McCluskey officiating.

Visitation with family will be from 11:30 AM until the time of service. According to his wishes, his body has been cremated. Inurnment will be at 3:00 PM, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hwy 122 W., Mason City, IA. Military Honors will be provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Memorials may be given to the Galilean Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa in his name.

Dick was born June 3, 1927 in Holtan, KS, the son of Gustave and Clara Ann (Hug) Becker.

At an early age his family moved to a farm near Thompson, IA. He graduated from Thompson High School in 1945. Following school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII. After an Honorable Discharge from the service he attended radio school in Omaha and was a DJ in New Mexico for a short time. He came back to Iowa and the family farm, and attended Waldorf College.

Dick married Marjorie Ann Wiuff on November 26, 1955 at the Lutheran Church in Rutland, IA. They lived on the family farm for 25 years, moving to Clear Lake in 1979. He worked at various positions in Clear Lake including driving for the Clear Lake School district for several of those years.

Dick loved riding his motorcycle, all kinds of sports, both watching his children and participating himself. He enjoyed boating, the lake and golfing.
He was a member of Galilean Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, the Clear Lake V.F.W. and former member of the Forest City School Board.

Dick is survived by his two children Debra Ann Wieland, Minneapolis, MN and Thomas Lee (Kimberly) Becker, Minneapolis, MN; two grandchildren Claire Elizabeth Becker and Grace Marie Becker; sister Dorothy Kajer, Tama, IA and several nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marjorie February 16, 2007, and brother-in-law Fred Kajer.
