Jay Kevin Lindsay was born in Mason City, Iowa March 21, 1956 to Gerald and Kathryn (Buffington) Lindsay, and passed away December 10, 2015 at Hospice of North Iowa after a long struggle with liver disease. He was 59 years old.

Services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015 at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Thompson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa. Memorials for Jay can be directed to the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank or the Humane Society of North Iowa.

He grew up in Clear Lake, Iowa and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1975.

Jay, like his father Jerry and brother Tom, worked as a steamfitter for Local 33 until his declining health forced him to leave the trade. He also worked as a roadie for many local bands and he loved that life. Clear Lake people will also remember Jay on the barge installing and removing boat lifts.

Well known in northern Iowa as a wizard with home repair and maintenance, Jay provided these services in a number of rental properties in the area. His faithful cocker spaniel, Lindsay, often accompanied Jay. She was a fitting companion for Jay whose sense of humor and easy-going personality made friends wherever he went.

Jay is survived by his mother Kathryn of Clear Lake; three brothers, Tom (Fran) Lindsay, Lansing, Iowa, Gary (Linda), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, John, Mason City, Iowa; two sisters, Sue Lindsay (Gary Brown), Mesa, Arizona, and Sally Clay (Ron), Charles City, Iowa. In addition to the immediate family and many nieces, nephews and extended family mourning his loss, are his close friends, especially Julie Sankey.

He was preceded in death by his father Gerald “Jerry” Lindsay; and his grandparents Vesta Lindsay and Chet and Nettie Buffington
