Clear Lake- Albert Kenneth Seaton, 72, of Clear Lake, Iowa passed away, surrounded by his wife and five children, on the morning of Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Muse Norris Hospice Unit of the Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2015 at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1001 9th Avenue South, Clear Lake, Iowa with Father John A. Gossman officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. MST at the Masonic Cemetery in Philip, South Dakota on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.

The visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapels Funeral Home, 101 North 4th Street, Clear Lake, Iowa. The Rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a scriptural wake following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, the Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa and the Muse Norris – Hospice unit in Mason City.

Albert “Al” was born October 9, 1942 in Onawa, Iowa. Albert’s family moved to Miller, South Dakota in 1952. Al graduated from Miller High School in 1960 and attended South Dakota State University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1964.

Albert and Arlys met in Philip, South Dakota and were married on October 16, 1965. They moved to Huron, South Dakota and then Watertown, South Dakota where Al worked for the Bureau of Reclamation (Department of Energy).

The family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1979 where Al worked for the Southwestern Power Administration. In 1983, the family moved to Sidney, Nebraska where the couple owned and operated a Coast-to-Coast Hardware Store. In 1985, Al started a job with the Rural Electric Administration and the family moved to Mitchell, South Dakota. Al and Arlys moved to Clear Lake, Iowa in 2003. Al retired from the REA in 2007.

Al was an active member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church of Clear Lake and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He also belonged to NARFE.

Albert was a beloved husband, father, and a friend to all who met him. Al enjoyed working on projects around the home and helping his friends. His passion was working on and racing his 1988 Ford Mustang GT at the Marshalltown speedway with his son, Brent.

Al is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Arlys, his daughter Kenna Chapin and son-in-law David Chapin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, his daughters, Joelle Seaton and Amy Nelson of Oceanside, California, his son Brent Seaton and daughter-in-law, Beckie and his daughter Carmen Seaton – Bartunek and son-in-law, John Bartunek of Mason City, and his “fifth daughter” Michele Bertsch and her husband, Marty Bertsch of Watertown, South Dakota. Also, his sisters, Kathy Tweet of Iowa and Kenna Gribben and her husband Pat Gribben, of Texas.

Al has eleven beloved grandchildren, Ellie, Miles, Averee, Jack, Ava, Emery, Annie, Nessa Rose, Liam, Matthew and Michael.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Louisa Seaton, his brother Harvey Seaton and sister-in-law Karen Seaton of Miller, South Dakota.
