Page: 2A good man has fallen, in death of Rev. S. A. Allen, of Clear Lake, on the 8th inst. He was a man of strong character and shining virtues. When he entered the ministry he possessed a fortune of thirty thousand dollars, the most he gave away for benevolent purposes within a few years afterwards; and he was always actively engaged in doing good. His wife died many years ago. He leaves two sons and six daughters. One son, a physician, lives in Clear Lake; another has for four years been Secretary of State of Wisconsin, and is now editor of the Oshkosh Northwest; one daughter was a missionary for Jamaica for years; and another a teacher among the colored people of the South.
