“Clear Lake, June 11—Mrs. Percilla Hern passed away here at 10:00 o’clock last night at the cottage occupied by her sister, Mrs. M. G. Evans of Mason City. Mrs. Hern had reached her 91st year, and was born near Devonshire, England. She came to this country about 70 years ago and has made her home in the middle west since that time. For several years, Mrs. Hern had been suffering from rheumatism but heart trouble was the immediate cause of the death. The end came suddenly, the deceased feeling as well as usual during yesterday.
Three sons and two daughters survive Mrs. Hern. The sons are Herman Collins of Staton, Wis., Andrew Collins of Takoma, Wash., and W. F. Collins of Clear Lake. The daughters are Mrs. Emma Evans of Staton, Wis., and Mrs. M. G. Evans of Mason City. Mrs. Hern was a member of the Methodist church. Definite funeral arrangements have not yet been made but services will probably be held tomorrow afternoon. Burial will be made a Clear Lake.” (Mason City Globe Gazette, June 15, 1915, pg 6)
