“Clear Lake—Death came to Mrs. Anna McGrady, one of Clear Lake’s oldest settlers, Saturday, February 27. Mrs. McGrady died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bessie Howard. She had reached the age of eighty-five but was in apparent good health, which she had enjoyed for some time, until her last illness.
Anna Oliver was born in Scotland, May 2, 1829. She married Charles McGrady in Canada. She had been a widow for a number of years. She is survived by four children, Wesley McGrady of Clear Lake, Charles McGrady of Ventura, Mrs. Bessie Howard of Clear Lake and Mrs. Lucy Colby of Minneapolis.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:00 o’clock from the Howard home, Rev. F. D. Stafford of Methodist church officiating of which she was a member. Interment was made in the Clear Lake cemetery.” (Mason City Globe Gazette, March 4, 1915, pg 2)
