“Clear Lake—Death came at noon Monday to John J. Johnson, who has been ill for the past several days at the Park hospital. He has been ailing for some time with a cancer in the bowels. He was taken to the hospital last week, and there underwent an operation. His condition was critical until his death Monday.
For the past several years Mr. Johnson has been caretaker and sexton at the Clear Lake cemetery, and has made his home at Clear Lake for about twenty years. Earlier in his life he followed the carpet weaving trade.
John J. Johnson was born June 23, 1864, at Lom, Norway. When a young lad he came to this country where he has since resided. On the 26th of April 1896 he was united in marriage at Clear Lake to Miss Marie Christopherson. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, three of whom are living. The sons are Albert Johnson, Henry Johnson, the daughter Ruby Johnson, and the deceased daughter, Helen. He also has a brother, Jacob Johnson, who mourns, with the family, in the loss of father and brother. The deceased was a member of the United Lutheran church.
The funeral services will be held this afternoon from the home at 1 o’clock and from the United Lutheran church at 2 o’clock. Rev. C. O. A. Jenson will officiate. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery.”
