Clear Lake--The angel of death cast a gloom over the whole vicinity of Clear Lake when death came to Mrs. Leona Bouton Hiltz late Sunday night. Mrs. Hiltz was a young woman of lovely character and attractive personality and her presence will be missed in many circle of life. She has made her home with Mrs. Schumacher since a young child and grew to womanhood in this city. She attended the Clear Lake public schools and graduated from the high school and was employed by the Matt Olson Co. for some time prior to her marriage to Mr. Hiltz.
Mrs. Leona Bouton Hiltz was born on a farm near Meservey, Ia, November 23, 1893, and died at the Clear Lake hospital Sunday evening at 12 o’clock p.m. The deceased was a member of the First Methodist church of Clear Lake and a faithful and devoted wife and friend. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge, which body attended the funeral services held this afternoon at the Methodist church at two o’clock. Mrs. Hiltz was given a home by Mrs. Schumacher when the former was only five years of age at the time of the death of her own mother, Mrs. Stella Bouton, and has lived there since that time up until her marriage to Mr. Hiltz December 2, 1913. She is survived by a sister, Cleo, and her father William Bouoton, and an infant daughter, Margaret Estelle Bouton Hiltz.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gillies at two o’clock this afternoon. Interment was made at the Clear Lake cemetery.”
