“Clear Lake—Mrs. Thomas Broeffle, 80, Ventura Heights, died at a Mason City hospital late Tuesday following a stroke suffered a week ago. Funeral services are planned at the Ward Funeral Home Saturday afternoon.
Surviving are her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Charles Kaster, Ventura, and Mrs. Katherine Johnson, Los Angeles, and two brothers, Dick Burkholder, Vallejo, Calif. and Elgin Burkholder, Couderay, Wis., Mrs. Dick Hilljegerdes, Clear Lake is a niece.
Mr. and Mrs. Broeffle moved to Ventura three months ago from Cohassett, Minn. She was a widow of the late George Hickok, prior to her marriage to Mr. Broeffle.”

Mrs. Broeffle, nee Elsie Burkholder, was born July 28, 1894, near Clarksville, coming with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burkhholder, to Clear Lake vicinity in her childhood. She was a member of the Congregational Church.
She was married to George Hickok of Clear Lake. In 1912 they moved to Cohassett, Minn., where she lived until three months ago. Hickok preceded her in heath in 1927. In November 1932, she was married to Thomas Broeffle, who survives her….”
