Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, IowaMason City - Mary Evelyn Franks, 83, of 408 S. Tennessee Place, Apartment #1, died Sunday (Jan. 1, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. Carl A. Ries officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseh Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today with a scriptural service at 7 p.m. at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel.
Mary Evelyn Franks was born July 14, 1911, Dougherty, daughter of Thomas and Ella (Campbell) McMenimen. She married Joseph Franks on Feb. 21, 1937, in Dougherty.
Mary Evelyn grew up in Dougherty and graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic High School, Dougherty. She spent many hours visiting and assisting people in the nursing homes. She enjoyed sewing. She was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Joseph Ladies Circle.
Survivors include one son, Robert Franks and his wife, Lynette, Lacrosse, Wis.; one daughter, Dolores Kramer and her husband, Justin, of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Joe Kramer and his wife, Dora of Cedar Rapids, Mary Beth Goodfellow and her husband, Brad, Cedar Rapids, Jill Franks of Monrovia, Calif., and Mary Franks, of Madison, Wis.; three great-grandchildren, Brian Kramer of Cedar Rapids, Bailee and Madison Goodfellow, both of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Genevieve Wilson, of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Cash McMenimen, of Mesa, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; four sisters, Margaret McMenimen, Irene Talbert, Catherine Wilson, and Mildred Zueg; one brother, John McMenimen, and one daughter-in-law, Ann Franks.
