January 30, 1998MASON CITY — Donald Joseph Frank, 51, of 1739 N. Delaware Ave., Mason City, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 27, 1998) at home after a brief unexpected illness.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N. Delaware Ave., with the Rev. Frederick Wood officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Dress casually, as will Don.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Donald Joseph Frank was born July 27, 1946, in Mason City, the son of Dominic and Ella (Groff) Frank. He married Kathy Adams on Dec. 15, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Don grew up in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School in 1964. He worked at Winnebago and Iowa Tool and Molding as an engineer. At that time he attended and graduated from North Iowa Area Community College and Buena Vista College in 1987. Don then changed careers in 1990 and began work as a financial planner for Waddell and Reed, having offices in Bloomington, Minn., and Mason City. He and his wife owned and operated the Power Plant Pub and Eatery.
Don was an excellent grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed nature walks, traveling and vacationing.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Frank, of Mason City; his daughter, Lisa Neneman and her husband, Daniel, and their children, Danielle and Cole Neneman, all of Taylor Ridge, Ill., Kathy's son, Jeff Sestina and Tina Hanson and their children, Alyssa and Alexis Sestina, all of Mason City; two brothers, Robert Frank and his wife, Dian, and Richard Frank and his wife, Carol, all of Nampa, Idaho; one step-brother, Ken Lee, of Mason City; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Don will be missed by Fatcat, Graycat, Try and especially Zoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Frank; and his step-mother, Fannie Frank.
