October 08, 1953Funeral services for Hans Nicholas Floy, 69, who died Monday at a hospital in Fresno, Calif., following a lingering illness, will be arranged after the arrival of the body Thursday, accompanied by his son and daughter. Mr. Floy was born June 2, 1884, at Sheffield, son of Carl and Anna (Gerdes) Floy. The family moved to Thornton in 1891, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Ethel Atkinson Jan. 2, 1914, at St. Paul, Minn. They moved to Sheffield, then, in 1930 to Clear Lake, engaged in farming all the time, and in 1936 moved to Mason City.
Mr. Floy was preceded in death by his wife in 1939. In 1947 he moved to Fresno, Calif., to make his home.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Marjorie) Pettey; a son, Bernard Floy; three granddaughters, Dixie, Sharon and Joanne Pettey, all of Fresno; four brothers, Gerhardt Floy, Murray; Carl Floy, Thornton; Fred and John Floy, Clear Lake; and four sisters, Mrs. William (Mattie) Johnson, Britt; Mrs. Soene (Katharine) Neilson, Clear Lake; Mrs. Zed (Laura) Rule, Saginaw, Mich., and Lena Bramsen, Thornton.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, two sisters, a half sister and a half brother.
Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery. The McAuley and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
