November 14, 1995MASON CITY -- Ernest Dyer, 86, of Route 3, Mason City, died Monday (Nov. 13, 1995) at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the WardVan Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kent Dethlefsen officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Ernest Dyer Memorial Fund.
Ernest was born Feb. 28, 1909, in Mason City, the son of William Dyer and Nettie (nee) Urdahl Dyer. He attended school in Mason City.
He worked at the sugar beet plant in Mason City and was engaged in farming. Ernest enjoyed going to farm and household auctions.
Ernest is survived by his sister, Marie Bonner of Clear Lake; one brother, Laurence Dyer of Naples, Fla.; five nieces, Janice Ward of Mason City, Patricia St. Mary of Naples, Fla., Shirley Walton of Belle Plaine, Minn., Marjorie Bartholmey of Charles City, and Barbara Luckason of Kensett; four nephews, Don Dyer of Naples, Fla., Jerry Ward of Swaledale, Donald Bonner of Mason City and Duane Bonner of Thornton; and one aunt, Lillian Woodstock of Minneapolis, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Gladys Muldoon, Ruby Ward and Esther Dyer; two nephews; and one grandnephew.
