Donald was born Sept. 28, 1950, the son of Richard W. and Doris (Ebbenga) Davis in Mason City. He attended Mason City Public Schools and graduated from Mason City High School.
Donald later moved to Hampton where he owned and operated Don's Welding for 20 years. He became a certified welder and a self- taught electrician, television repairman and computer operator.
Don really enjoyed sharing the knowledge he collected on the job or that he'd read in one of his library of manuals or books. He was especially pleased to share with anyone if asked about a project or how his work was going.
Donald enjoyed working in the welding shop in Hampton, restoring an old truck with his nephew or taking on a project that most people thought impossible. He once took the leftovers from a train wreck and constructed a bridge-legal grain trailer for a semi-tractor.
Donald had a precision eye in everything he accomplished. He was very fond of bright colors and spending time with his nieces and nephews. Donald loved having chocolate milk and Ho-Hos for breakfast.
Those thankful for having shared in Don's life include his parents, Richard W. and Doris Davis of Mason City; two sisters, Jolene Fank and her husband, Jim, of Mason City, and Judi Colby and her husband, Ron, of Bellevue, Neb.; two nieces, Elizabeth Fank and Amy Reim and her husband, Bryan; two nephews, James Fank and Jeffrey Colby; and aunts, uncle, and cousins.
Donald was preceded in death by his grandparents.
