May 07, 1996SARASOTA, Fla. -- Robert Homer Cook, 5363 Lake Arrowhead Trail, Sarasota, Fla., died Friday (May 3, 1996).
A memorial service will be held Wednesday in Sarasota, Fla.
Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home, 7454 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given to Covenant Life Presbyterian Church, Sarasota, Fla., in his memory.
Robert was born April 29, 1923, in Milwaukee, Wis., son of Lloyd L. and Jessie Cook.
He attended Whitefish Bay High School and Milwaukee University School, graduated from MUS in 1941.
He attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., before entering the armed service on Dec. 11, 1942.
He served with the 5th Army during the Italian Campaign of World War II, achieving the rank of Staff Sgt. and was discharged on April 2, 1946.
He attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, before joining the family business, the L.L. Cook Company in Milwaukee.
After a period of time, he was transferred to Mason City where he managed the Co-Mo Photo Company. The business was sold to the GAF Corp. where he stayed on as manager until being transferred to Florida in the early 1970s.
He is survived by his wife, Dee; two daughters, Mary Jo Cook of Littleton, Colo., and Sue Ann Kafer of Mason City, Iowa; and five grandchildren, all of Mason City; two sisters, Jane Hadley of Boca Raton, Fla., and Betty Smith of Delray Beach, Fla.
