WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Richard I. Burgraff, an insurance broker, died Monday, (Nov. 13, 1995) in Walnut Creek. He was 70.

Richard I. Burgraff was born June 22, 1925.

The native of Mason City, Iowa, lived in Sacramento before moving to Walnut Creek 30 years ago.

He was a broker for the Wausau Insurance Company for 25 years, and a founder of Holton Associates, Inc. a business insurance firm.

He was a graduate of Iowa State University and an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the 8th Air Force.

He was a member of the Bohemian Club and Hillcrest Congregational Church. He was a singer and a golfer.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Barbara J. Burgraff of Walnut Creek; sons, Marc Burgraff of Nevada City, and Steven Burgraff of San Diego; stepson, Randy Hay of Fort Wayne, Ind.; brothers, Robert Burgraff of Deltona, Fla., and Ellsworth Burgraff of Mason City, Iowa; and five grandchildren.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Congregational Church in Pleasant Hill [CA].

Oakmont Memorial Park and Mortuary in Lafayette was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Memorials may be given in his memory to Wellness Community, 350 N. Wiget Lane, Walnut Creek, Calif. 94598; Hospice of Contra Costa, 3480 Buskirk Ave., Pleasant Hill, Calif. 91523, Hillcrest Congregational Church, 404 Gregory Lane, Pleasant Hill, Calif. 94523; or to charity.
