July 22, 1936Thomas Blewett, 87, Is Buried; Rites Are Conducted in Thornton
THORNTON -- Funeral services for Thomas Blewett, 87, who died Saturday [July 18] following a stroke, were held Monday afternoon at the M. E. church, the Rev. Mr. Carver in charge. Mr. Blewett was born near Elizabeth, Ill., [December 28, 1847, the son of John and Margaret (Brookling) Blewett], and was a pioneer settler of this community.
He is survived by his wife and two sones, Harold of Meservey, and Hartley of Mason City; one daughter, Mrs. Alfred [Laura Elizabeth] Ingebretson of Thornton, and 11 grandchildren.
Relatives attending the funeral from a distance were Mrs. and Mrs. J. W. Adams, Chicago; Mrs. Wilter [Walter?] Howarth and son, Harlan, Mrs. Hannah Wilcox, Mrs. Mararet Holland and Thomas Statham of Elizabeth, Ill.; Ira Statham, Mrs. and Mrs. B. H. Hanel, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Orvert of Mankato, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Adams and Mrs. Clifford Warnock of Iowa Falls.
Transcriber's Note: Thomas married Hester Ann Combellick on April 4, 1887. Hester and Thomas were interred in Pleasant View Cemetery.
