CLEAR LAKE -- Marilyn D. Bertz, 66, died Friday (Nov. 1, 1996) at her home.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1001 Ninth Ave. South, with the Rev. John R. Kremer officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Monday at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., with a scriptural prayer service beginning at 7 p.m.

Marilyn D. Bertz was born Nov. 6, 1929, in Fond Du Lac, Wis., the daughter of Alfred A. and Rosella M. (Schmitz) Herbert.

Marilyn was raised in Fond Du Lac, Wis. She and her family lived in Clear Lake from 1971 until 1976. They then briefly lived in Birmingham, Mich., and then moved to New Ulm, Minn. in 1977 for 11 years, until returning to Clear Lake.

She was an avid collector of antiques and collectibles and was involved in the antique business both in New Ulm, Minn., and Clear Lake. Marilyn was one of the original staff members at Opportunity Village where she also volunteered much of her time throughout the years. She will be greatly missed by her family and close friends and will be remembered by her generous spirit.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son, Jeffrey S. Bertz and his fiancee, Patti Lewis, of Decatur, Ill.; two daughters, Kathleen A. Fothergill and her husband, Scott, of Bondurant, and Carol J. Meyer and her husband, Steve, of Clear Lake; a daughter-in-law, Vicky Bertz, of Rochester, Minn.; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Sarah Bertz, both of Rochester, Minn., Christine and Jacob Fothergill, both of Bondurant, and Kathryn and Anne Meyer, both of Clear Lake; three brothers, Dave Herbert of Scottsdale, Ariz., John Herbert of Dahlonega, Ga., and Steve Herbert of Chicago, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
