MASON CITY -- Gary A. Beaver, 68, of Mason City, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday (May 21, 2015) at St. James Lutheran Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Jeni Bohls officiating.

Burial will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday (May 20, 2015) at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. N.E., Mason City.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. James Lutheran Church.

Gary Beaver was born August 31, 1946, in Mason City, Iowa, son of Merle and Fern (Bond) Beaver and was one of six children. He graduated from Mason City High school, class of 1964. After graduating he worked at Life Time Motor Homes for 18 years, 30 plus years for the Globe Gazette and retired from Armour-Erkrich in April 2014.

He was united in marriage to Ida (Kruse) Beaver on May 4, 1974, and to this union three children were born.

Gary enjoyed fishing with his brothers at Rugby Lake in Ontario, Canada, metal detecting, hunting, puting jigsaw puzzles together, watching wrestling, taking Ida to Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood and to Wild Rose Casino in Emmetsburg, watching the grandchildren play sports, spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Ida Beaver of Mason City; 3 sons, Dave Beaver of Mason City, Bob (Becky) Beaver of Mason City and Dan (Angie) Beaver of Mason City; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Randy (Lana) Beaver; Gerald (Beverly) Beaver; 2 sisters, Sherry (Bob) Nock; Shelly (Marty) Allen; sister-in-law, Pat Beaver and many nieces and nephews.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Beaver; nephew, John Beaver.
