James D. "Jim" Armstrong, 64, of Alamogordo, died Thursday (Aug. 22, 1996) at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, following a motorcyle accident, Aug. 15, in Alamogordo.

Jim Armstrong, the son of Cecil R. and Bessie M. (Cerny) Armstrong, was born June 28, 1932, in Dayton, Iowa.

He attended school in Plymouth, Iowa, graduating with the Class of 1950. He also attended Mason City, Iowa, Junior College.

A veteran (20-plus years), he retired as a technical sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Retired Enlisted Association, the National Rifle Association, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the First Baptist Church of Alamogordo.

He continued working, off and on, at the White Sands Air Force Base following his retirement. He was a self-employed mechanic and also repaired refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

Survivors include his wife, Francise Armstrong; a daughter, Deborah Muldavin and her husband, Estaban; and their three children, Laura Wagoner, and Aaron and Lena Muldavin, all of Albuquerque; two sons, Michael A. Armstrong and his wife, Sandee, and their two daughters, Brittany and Alexa, of Tampa, Fla.; and James Dennis Armstrong of Anaheim, Calif.; and one sister, Joanne "Joni" Warner and her husband, Leo, of Mason City, Iowa; one remaining uncle, Ellsworth Amstrong and his wife, Marguerite, of McPherson, Kan.; a "special" cousin, F. Russell "Bud" Cerney of Mason City, Iowa; and a number of other cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil (in 1934); his mother, Bessie (1992) and his stepfather, Paul F. Faltisek (in 1968).

Funeral services were held in Alamogordo at the First Baptist Church, with the Pastor W.W. Fountain, a personal friend, officiating.
