September 14, 2011Doris Marguerite Buss was born January 30, 1919, in Mason City, Iowa, to John and Emma (Struebe) LaGasse. She graduated from Mason City High School and then was employed at Jacob-Decker in the auditing department. On February 21, 1970, Doris was united in marriage to Behrend (Ben) Buss in Mason City. Ben and Doris farmed near Titonka. Ben died in October, 2008, Doris became a resident of the Titonka Care Center in 2006.
She died on Monday, September 12, 2011, at Kossuth Regional Health Center at the age of 92.
Doris was an active member of First Christian Church in Mason City before her marriage to Ben and became an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church since 1971. Doris was an avid reader and bird watcher. She also enjoyed oil painting, crocheting, needlepointing and poetry.
Survivors include nine nieces and nephews, Gertrude Affayroux and her husband Jerry of Tampa, Florida; Joan Podles, Joe Buss, Jr. and his wife Linda, James Buss and his wife Karen, and David Buss all of Baltimore, MD, Leon Buss and his wife Marylou of Dundas, Minnesota, Mavis Hess of Forest City, Dale Buss of Lecenter, Minnesota and Russell Buss and his wife Karen of Woden. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ben in 2008, and a brother Raymond.
[Interment was made at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.]
