MASON CITY — Mildred L. Buehler, 92, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2007) at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Paul Nelson and the Rev. Jeni Bohls officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the Mildred L. Buehler Memorial Fund.

Mildred Lenora Buehler was born Dec. 23, 1914, in Joice, the daughter of Carl and Bertina (Tweed) Olson. Mildred attended country school in rural Joice.

Mildred was married briefly to Max Lutcavish, to this union was a daughter Kayrl.

She had numerous jobs in the North Iowa area, where she met Bill Buehler, a moment that changed both of their lives.

On Aug. 13, 1951, Mildred was united in marriage to Bill Buehler in Mason City. Bill and Mildred owned and operated Buehler's Café for over 20 years until retirement in 1972. Mildred and Bill opened their house to their niece, Sandra, and their nephew, Bruce, who both came to live with them while attending Mason City High School.

Mildred enjoyed playing cards with her card club ladies, bowling, taking walks and working. She was instrumental and involved with others in what came to be community kitchen. Mildred enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mildred was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City and a member of the St. James Altar Guild.

She is survived by her daughter, Kayrl (Don) Plagge, of Mason City; her grandchildren, Ken Plagge of Mason City, Kurt (Mary Brunet) Plagge of Ames, Karen (Dan) Havey of LaCrosse, Wis.; her sister-in-law, Gen Olson, of Michigan; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Bertina; husband, Bill; sister, Vernie Wilhite; brothers, Arnold, Franklin and Merrill Olson; an infant brother; and a sister-in-law, Helen Broers.
