MASON CITY -- Darlene J. Buckland, 75, of Mason City, died Friday (Dec. 29, 2006) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. today followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. in Mason City. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Homestead Assisted Living.

Darlene was born Aug. 19, 1931, in Belmond, the daughter of Lloyd and Anna Mae (Buchanan) Cline. She attended schools in both Belmond and Mason City. She married Bernard J. Buckland on June 30, 1950, in Key West, Fla. Darlene and Bernie enjoyed 51 years of marriage and enjoyed traveling during this time to visit friends and family. They were members of Wesley United Methodist Church, participating in a number of volunteer organizations. Darlene will be remembered for her playful spirit and her love and devotion to her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbra Fangman, of Plymouth, Minn.; son, B.J. Buckland and wife Chris of Minnetonka, Minn.; three grandchildren, Daniel, of Zambia, Africa, William, of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Stephanie, of Des Moines, Iowa; brother, Roger Cline and wife, Phyllis, of Arizona, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard John Buckland; parents, Lloyd and Anna Mae (Buchanan) Cline; stepfather Charlie Halfpop; two sisters, Alice Lowenberg and Ethel Harrington; three brothers, Clarence, Dale and Harry Cline; grandchildren, Amy and Jessica Fangman; and son-in-law, Michael Fangman.
